Paneer Paratha

Paneer paratha is a whole wheat bread stuffed with paneer or cottage cheese. It's a very popular breakfast recipe in Punjab. I believe this is one of the most delicious paratha among all the parathas out there and needles to say one of the favorites of my dear husband .  Its a very healthy breakfast recipe.

Paneer Paratha
Ingredients: (For Dough or Outer layer)
  • 1.5 cup Whole Wheat flour
  • pinch of salt
  • Water as required
  • 1 tbsp Oil
Stuffing:
  • 1.5 cup Paneer, grated
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 4-5 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tbsp garam masala
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves, finely chopped

Method:

Dough:
  • Mix whole wheat flour, salt and oil in a mixing bowl. Add little water and knead it to a smooth and soft dough.
  • Cover the dough and let it rest for 15-20 min.
  • As the dough rest lets prepare the stuffing.
Stuffing:
  • In a mixing bowl mix all the ingredients mentioned above under stuffing.
  • Equally divide this stuffing in 6 portions and set aside.
Paneer Paratha:
  • Now knead the dough again and equally divide it into 6 small smooth balls. 
  • Take one ball and roll it with rolling pin to a 3-4 inch diameter flat circle and add one portion of paneer stuffing on it.
  • Bring all the edges together and seal it.
  • Flatten the stuffed paneer ball by hands and sprinkle some dough. Roll this paratha into 6-7 inch diameter circle.
  • Heat the tawa. When the tawa is hot place this paneer paratha.
  • Flip when one side is partly cooked. Apply some butter and flip again.
  • Apply butter to other side now and flip again. Make sure you cook the edges
  • Paneer Paratha is ready.
  • Repeat the process for the remaining dough.
  • Serve this paratha with  your choice of chutney or pickle.
