Jeera Rice / Indian Cumin Rice

I prefer Jeera rice anytime over regular white rice. There are two ways of making it. Both of them are pretty simple and makes flavorful jeera rice. However, today's method is for everyone who loves spicy food. This jeera rice will give you a little flavor of spice in it:)
Jeera Rice
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup Basmati rice
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1" cinnamon
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 2-3 green cardamom
  • 2-3 cloves
  • 4-5 bloack peppercorns
  • 2 green chillies, vertically slit
  • coriander leaves (optional)
  • pinch of Salt
  • 1 tbsp Oil
Method:
  • Wash and Soak the rice in water for half an hour. Drain the water and keep aside.
  •  Heat Oil in a pan. When the oil gets hot add cumin seeds and all the spices above.
  •  As soon as the seeds and the spices crackle add green chillies to it. Saute it for a minute.
  • Now add the soaked rice. Add 2 cups of water and salt.
  • Cover  the rice and cook it on low flame.
  • Cook till its soft and tender and each grain is separated.
  • Garnish with cilantro.
  • Jeera rice is ready to serve. Serve the rice with dal fry.
