Phodnichi Poli is a very popular maharashtrian breakfast made by using leftover chapatis. It taste delicious and its quick and easy to prepare. You can also add vegetables or peanuts to make it healthy and makes a good option for kids tiffin. Phodnichi poli always taste better with stale/left over chapatis.

- 4-5 chapati (leftover/stale)
- 1tbsp peanuts
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 3-4 curry leaves
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/4 turmeric powder
- 2-3 green chillies
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/4 cup coriander, finely chopped
- 1 tsp limejuice
- pinch of salt
- pinch of sugar
- pinch of Asafoetida
- 1 tbsp oil
Method:
- Grind chapatis coarsely in a grinder or crumble them with hands into fine pieces.
- Heat oil in a pan. As soon as the oil is heated add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves.
- When the seeds crackle add the finely chopped onions and green chillies. Fry the onions till they are golden brown.
- Now add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder.
- Add the coarse chapati pieces and mix well.
- Add pinch of salt and sugar. Mix nicely and cook covered on medium heat for couple of minutes.
- Garnish with coriander and lime juice when you are ready to serve.
