Rava Sheera

Sheera is a popular sweet maharashtrian snack made of semolina. Rava sheera can be prepared in two different ways. One of them is made with semolina, banana and sugar, also known as prasadacha sheera and often served as a prasad after satyanarayan pooja. The other one which is posted below is a regular sheera with no banana in it. I also twisted the regular recipe by adding almond powder in it.Though its a little high in calories it is one of a simple, traditional yet delicious dessert.

Rava Sheera
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup Semolina (Rava)
  • 1/4 cup Almond powder
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm Milk
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • pinch of Saffron strands
  • 1/4 tbsp cinnamon powder
  • Almond slices
  • 2 tbsp butter
 Method:
  • Warm up two tablespoon of Milk and add pinch of saffron strands and set aside.
  • Heat butter in a pan. As the butter melts add semolina and fry till its golden brown followed by almond powder. As you fry it you will get beautiful aroma of the semolina.
  • Add warm milk and saffron milk to it and keep stirring so that no lumps are formed.
  • Now add sugar to this mixture. Cover and cook on low flame for 4-5 minutes stirring in between to prevent the mixture  from sticking to the pan.
  • Add cinnamon powder. Mix well.
  • Sheera is ready to serve now.
  • Garnish with raisins, almonds or cashews.
