Moong dal cheela is basically a savory crepe prepared with rice and green split lentils and a very healthy breakfast food or an evening snack. Unlike regular dosas, these do not require to be fermented over night and can be cooked instantly.
Moong Dal Cheela |
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup green split lentil (green split moong dal)
- 1/4 cup rice
- 1" ginger
- 1-2 green chillies
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/4 cup coriander, finely chopped
- pinch of salt
- pinch of asafoetida
- Oil for frying
Method:
- Wash and soak lentils and rice together for 3-4 hours.
- Drain and add ginger, green chillies, asafoetida, salt and little water and grind to a smooth paste.
- Pour this batter in a bowl and then add finely chopped onions, cumin seeds and cilantro. Mix well
- Heat a tablespoon of oil in a frying pan and spread it evenly.
- Pour a ladleful of batter after the oil is heated and spread it out evenly forming a circle.
- Drizzle some oil on the sides of the cheela and cook it over medium flame till golden brown.
- Flip the cheela and cook the other side as well to crispy golden brown.
- Moong dal cheelas are ready to serve.
- Serve the cheelas with ketchup or chutney of your choice.
