Semiya Upma is a quick breakfast recipe...It is cooked similar to upma and taste delicious.

Ingredients:
- 2 cups semiya (vermicelli) ( I use this: Bambino)
- ½ cup onion, finely chopped
- ¼ cup carrot, finely chopped and boiled
- 1/4 cup peas, boiled
- 2-3 green chillies, finely chopped
- ¼ cup shredded coconut
- 1-2 whole red chillies
- 4-5 curry leaves
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp urad daal
- 1/8 teaspoon asafetida
- Lemon juice
- Cilantro (for garnish)
- 1 Tbsp Oil
- pinch of Salt
Method:
- Roast the semiya over medium heat until they turn golden brown. Transfer them to a plate and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a frying pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal, red chillies and asafetida.
- When the urad dal turns golden brown add onion, green chillies and curry leaves.
- Fry onions till golden brown. Add carrots and peas and saute it for 2-3 min. (You can also add other veggies like beans,corn, broccoli...)
- Add 3 cups of water to this and let it come to boil.
- Add salt and lemon juice and the roasted semiya. Stir this mixture.
- Cover the frying pan with a lid and let this mixture cook on low flame for 4-5 min.
- Stir occasionally as required.
- Garnish with cilantro and shredded coconut.
- Semiya upma is ready to serve.
